£10,000 for new equipment for Weldmar thanks to Ducks and Drakes Cancer Trust
3rd May 2022
Weldmar Hospicecare’s Inpatient Unit is set to benefit from £10,000 worth of new equipment, including a hoist, thanks to a generous donation from a fellow charity.
The Ducks and Drakes Cancer Trust raised the money through various activities including their annual family music festival in Charminster, Duckfest, as well as a recent live gig featuring local legends Ben Waters and Jack Daniels, which packed out Brewery Hall in Ansty.
Annette Drake of Ducks & Drakes, said, “We could not provide this type of support without the help and generosity of our wonderful supporters and network of friends. Thank you to everyone who gives so generously. We are delighted to be able to support Weldmar Hospice, which does incredible work in our local community.”
The Trust was founded in 2012 by Andrew Drake and his family following the bowel cancer diagnosis of Andrew, aged 24.
Sarah Balchin, Weldmar’s Trust and Foundation Fundraiser, says, “We are so grateful for the support of Ducks and Drakes which will enable us to continue our vital work caring and supporting all patients with a life limiting illness within Dorset, at a time when they need us most.”
