Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Equality means we should treat everybody as an individual. Everyone has equal and fair opportunity.
Diversity means we should include, recognise and value that society is made up of people from wide ranging backgrounds.
Inclusion means the practice of providing equal access to opportunities for everyone who may be excluded or marginalised, these are known as Protected Characteristics.
Protected Characteristics are:
- Marriage and Civil Partnership
- Pregnancy and Maternity
- Race or Ethnicity
- Religion or Belief
- Sexual Orientation
- Transgender Status
Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of people within in this group.
Weldmar Hospicecare Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
The law states we should not discriminate. We should treat people with equality, diversity and inclusion. Current legislation i.e. within the Equality Act 2010 provides individuals protection from discriminatory treatment. Weldmar Hospicecare adheres to this law and continually puts in place and monitors measures to action and support this.
