Day Services resume in Bridport and Blandford

Weldmar Hospicecare’s Day Services returned to Blandford today for the first time since March.

Patients were back at at the Community Hospital to exchange their experiences of the lockdown, take part in games and creative arts, and of course enjoy a cup of tea to accompany the cake prepared for them by the hospital’s catering team.

The resumption of Blandford’s Day Services adds to the sessions at Bridport Community Hospital, which began last week, and those in Weymouth, at our charity headquarters, Trimar House.

Jenny Wood, Day Services Lead, says, “The past couple of weeks have been really exciting for us. It has felt so good to be able to facilitate the opportunity for our patients to get together again. They have really missed each other. Of course it’s all a little different, but behind all the PPE and social distancing, the essence of each group continues as normal.

“It’s been so lovely to see how much the patients value being back. So far, there’s been a lot of chat, catching up on each other’s news and sharing stories of lockdown. We had a wonderful welcome back to Blandford hospital today, where the kitchen team had made us a beautiful cake. It’s good to be back!”
