Christmas act of kindness from Lily Tancock.

Lily’s Christmas act of kindness for Weldmar patients and staff

17th December 2019

A nine year old from Burton Bradstock has delivered a  to Weldmar Hospicecare patients and staff.

Lily Tancock visited our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester with boxes of special gift bags that she’d put together, full of treats.

Lily says, “I thought it would make everyone feel special at Christmas and make them real happy, and it would cheer them up if they were feeling a bit sad or something”.

The gifts for patients included chocolates, word search books, and toiletries such as soap, sponges, and toothbrushes.

Lily, who visited the IPU with her parents Dom and Kerry, also put together gift bags for nurses.  “I just thought the nurses and staff have been really good and deserved a treat. They have got chocolate, crisps and biscuits.”

Caroline Sweetland, Director of Nursing, says, “Lily is an inspirational young fundraiser. She has shown such thoughtfulness and kindness in preparing these gift bags for our patients and has incredible insight for someone so young. Sally-Anne Baverstock, our senior sister and myself will have great pleasure in giving out these lovely gift bags on Christmas morning.”
