Stop press: Weldmar’s Overseas Challenge to Madagascar is now full, but limited spaces still available for Machu Picchu
23rd February 2024
< BACK TO NEWSWeldmar Hospicecare recently launched not just one, but two epic Overseas Challenges as part of the charity’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
The first fundraising trip to Madagascar this November is now full, and a limited number of spaces remain for the adventure in Machu Picchu, which takes place in March 2025.
Weldmar Fundraiser Clare Ash says, “It’s a brilliant feeling to announce that our Madagascar Overseas Challenge has reached capacity. We have an awesome team of supporters who have signed up and are already busy with fundraising and training. They’ve been organising quiz nights, moonlight balls, barn dances, and so much more to reach their targets, so I’m sure it will become one of our most successful Overseas Challenges yet.
“We also have a wonderful group of supporters already confirmed to experience one of the seven modern wonders of the world – Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, which I can’t wait to experience myself. It will be a demanding trek but the views will be some of the best in the world. We have a limited number of places left to fill, and there is just over a year to go so plenty of time to get some fundraising under your belt, and enough training to make sure you can take on all those steps!”
The trek takes in the spectacular Andean peaks, through epic Peruvian landscapes and misty cloud forest. The adventure starts in the Colonial town of Cusco, with an acclimatisation trek to the Inca ruins of Tambomachay. After two days of acclimatising and sightseeing, the hike begins towards Machu Picchu along the Salkantay trail.
Clare and the fundraising team from Weldmar Hospicecare will be on hand from the moment you express an interest, throughout your fundraising and training, and provide support on the trip itself. The support on offer includes:
- Regular training walks
- Resources to help kickstart your fundraising
- Advice and guidance on kit required
- Regular communication
- A support network including previous trekkers
