More than £2,500 raised at Weldmar’s Dorchester sustainable fashion show
6th October 2023
< BACK TO NEWSA fashion show held by Weldmar Hospicecare to highlight the quality and pricing of sustainable fashion available in their chain of charity shops has been hailed a success.
£2,542 was raised on the evening through the sales of clothes, accessories, and raffle tickets.
The highlight of the evening was the catwalk show, featuring a number of the charity’s volunteers, staff, and regular shoppers, pictured above.
The youngest participant was Samantha, 12, who took part in memory of her father and grandfather, both of whom were cared for by Weldmar.
Sarah Pavey is manager of the charity’s Dorchester Outlet on the Marabout Trading Estate, and hosted the catwalk show. She says, “Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy the evening, it was a sell out and a terrific atmosphere. We couldn’t have done it without the help of a number of lovely volunteers, both those helping in various roles around the Corn Exchange, and those who modelled for us. It’s so encouraging that there is a growing appreciation of fashion available in charity shops, which is good quality, affordable, and more environmentally sustainable.”
