Pupils at St George’s Primary School on Portland have rallied the local community into collecting stamps for Weldmar Hospicecare.

Youngsters have been encouraging family members, friends, neighbours, and local businesses to cut out and hand over used stamps, so that they can be recycled to raise funds for the charity.

Three of the children from the school paid a visit to our charity shop on Easton Square to hand them over.

Eight year old Lee, pictured centre, said he managed to collect hundreds of stamps by roping in his mum and his nan to help him out, and says it was fun trying to get as many as possible, and that he’s very proud of being able to help Weldmar in this way.

Caitlin, is eleven years old and a member of the School Council, and says, “I feel really just to help people out, because it’s a good thing to do.”

Charlie, also eleven, is Captain of Green House, and told us, “It makes me feel good, because we’ve raised some money for people who really need it.”

Our thanks to the pupils and staff at St George’s School, and their local community for supporting us in this way!

If you are able to start collecting stamps in a similar way, our fundraising team would love to hear from you! Get in touch via fundraisers@weld-hospice.org.uk.
