Weldmar shops offering opportunities through the Kickstart initiative
14th December 2021
< BACK TO NEWSWeldmar Hospicecare’s retail operation has signed up to the government’s Kickstart scheme.
The initiative gives six month placements in workplaces to those aged 16-24 in a bid to give them opportunities and experience. This includes support with CV and interview preparation, developing skills such as teamwork, and providing support to look for long-term work.
Young people will liaise with a Work Coach at their local Job Centre. They will look for suitable opportunities, such as those Weldmar are offering, and arrange for applications to be made. As with all jobs, Weldmar’s retail team will interview each candidate and select the most appropriate person for the role.
The Kickstart scheme covers the National Minimum Wage costs for a minimum of 25 hours per week.
Director of Retail, Gavin Anderson-Terry, says “This is both a great benefit to Weldmar as well as providing opportunities for local individuals. The trainees will supplement our existing volunteer base and learn new skills to help them find employment after their placement with us.”
