Why should you work at Weldmar?

At Weldmar, at the moment, we’re looking to fill a number of roles throughout the departments of Weldmar Hospicecare You need to be a special type of person to work at Weldmar; someone that lives and breathes our values of being caring, welcoming, adaptable, and behaving with integrity. You might not realise, but Weldmar is the largest charity employer in Dorset with just shy of 270 staff.

Though our main locations are in Dorchester and Weymouth, we have certain roles all over the county – from Sherborne to Shaftesbury, Bridport to Blandford. And although we’re actively recruiting for some roles right now, we’re also fortunate to have some colleagues that have been with us for many years.

Many of our staff have received extra training to progress their careers, have been promoted through hard work and determination, or have learned valuable skills on the job that have allowed them to move into other roles across the organisation.

-We offer our staff, where appropriate, opportunities to work remotely or flexibly.

Some of our roles offer the ability to work remotely, or flexibly. Our directors and managers appreciate some people prefer to work in a certain way, and will do their best to accommodate that.

-We offer a generous holiday allowance

At Weldmar, you’ll receive 27 days plus bank holidays as a new member of staff on full time hours, or the equivalent for part time employees. This increases in line with years of service up to 33 days for full time employees that have been with us for ten years or more.

-We give enhanced pay to new parents

We know that having a baby, or adopting, is one of life’s great moments. We want you to be able to enjoy time off with your new family. This is why, after one year of service, new parents will receive paid leave. Maternity pay is 8 weeks full pay (minus Statutory Maternity Pay) and a further 18 weeks at half pay (plus Statutory Maternity Pay) and 13 weeks at Statutory Maternity Pay. Paternity leave is two weeks at full pay.

-We’ll support you in an emergency

If you find yourself needing to take time off for a caring responsibility, compassionate reason, or in an emergency, you could receive up to 10 days of paid leave for full time staff, pro-rata for part time staff, depending on the individual situation.

-Your wellbeing is important to us

When working at an end of life charity, you can sometimes be exposed to difficult and emotional situations. We have a duty to take care of our staff in these circumstances which is why we have a dedicated team of mental health first aiders and two staff counsellors. If you wish to, there will always be someone to speak to privately and confidentially.
