On Wednesday 1st October, Weldmar Hospicecare’s Beaminster charity shop officially reopened its doors after a full refit, and local supporters were eager to see the transformation with a queue forming outside before the ribbon was cut.
The honour of officially opening the shop went to local actor and Weldmar supporter, Martin Clunes, who joined Sue Dean, Chairman of the Beaminster Friends of Weldmar, to cut the ribbon. Martin also spent time chatting with staff, volunteer, and customers, helping to mark the special occasion.
The Beaminster Friends of Weldmar are well known for their incredible fundraising efforts, including arranging a dinner and auction last year, that raised an incredible £101,000.
A fresh new look
The shop has been given a bright, fresh new look, designed to showcase high-quality donated items at affordable prices. A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes in recent wees to prepare for the relaunch, and the team say they are delighted with the results.
The Beaminster shop has been part of the local community for 15 years, and continues to be strongly supported by local people. Volunteers and staff were thrilled to welcome familiar faces, as well as plenty of new customers through the doors.
Weldmar’s Director of Retail, Gavin Anderson-Terry was delighted with the turn out and positive feedback.
“The reaction from everybody in Beaminster has been fantastic, lots of people were excited to see what it’s looking like, and it’s lovely to see so many people here today.”
The refreshed shop promises to be a local hub for bargains, treasures, sustainable shopping and community spirit, all in support of Weldmar’s vital end of life care across Dorset for patients with life limiting illnesses, as well as support for their loved ones.
