Information for Trusts and Foundations
Information for charitable trusts and foundations who are looking to support the work of Weldmar Hospicecare.
At Weldmar Hospicecare, we rely on the generosity of donors to support our vital work providing specialist end of life care and support to patients and their families. One important way we do this is through trust fundraising – reaching out to charitable trusts and foundations for support.
With the help of these grants, we can fund specific projects and initiatives that enable us to deliver the very best care to patients when they need it most. From upgrading our facilities, to investing in new technologies and equipment, trust fundraising plays a critical role in our fundraising efforts, ensuring the longevity of our care throughout Dorset.
Trusts we have worked with include…
Ducks and Drakes Cancer Trust was founded to help save lives and promote well-being by raising awareness of cancer, specifically Bowel Cancer in young people aged 18 to 30. The Trust was founded in 2012 by Andrew Drake and his family following the bowel cancer diagnosis of Andrew at aged 24.
Ducks and Drakes Cancer Trust aim to:
- Create awareness of bowel cancer in young people, aged 18 to 30 in Dorset and the UK

The Albert Hunt Trust has been steadfast in providing unrestricted core funding to hospices throughout the UK for many years. Weldmar Hospicecare has been one such hospice to have received regular awards to help support their delivery of services to support the residents of Dorset.
Low Carbon Dorset was set up by Dorset Council and funded by the government. Their aim is to provide grants to businesses and communities in Dorset to help improve their energy efficiency and save money on their energy bills.
Their £9,640 grant helped us to reduce our carbon footprint by upgrading our exterior lighting.
The Dorset Health Trust have been giving generously to the charity since 1991. They have also been a long time supporter of Weldmar Hospicecare and have become a great contributor towards our Weldmar at Home service, including a very generous £100,000 donation towards the service.
The Simon Digby Charitable Trust operates out of Sherborne. This wonderful local trust helps to support local charities across Dorset and Warwickshire, through a wide variety of interests, including people with disabilities, Hospices, the elderly, schools, mental health and sport clubs.
The Simon Digby Charitable Trust generously donated £2000 towards equipment to combat breathlessness in our patients.
