Stampede by the Sea: Art Programme

In spring 2025, Bridport, West Bay, and Lyme Regis will be transformed into a giant art trail, which will involve the whole community.

The aim is to raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, as well as awareness of our services in the area.

Here, you can submit your designs for our Art Programme.

The first phase of the Artist Programme is live now, when we invite you to put forward your designs. All of the entries will be judged by our panel, with a selection being put forward for our Art Selection event in October. This is where our sponsors and partners choose their favourite designs for their sculptures.

An amazing opportunity to showcase your work and show off your immense creativity!

Each elephant is a giant 3D canvas, allowing you to have fun and express yourself.

Your work will have a guaranteed wide audience, made up of local families and visitors to the area who will be taking part in this fun and accessible art trail. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with the other artists involved, and the local business community.

Not only that, but you’ll receive a £1,000 honorarium if your design is selected.

The successful artists will be invited to join us to paint their elephant between November 2024 and January 2025, before the trail goes live in March.

We welcome entries from artists from the local area and further afield.

Dorset artist Anissa Lee is leading our Art Programme and has designed and painted ‘Waves of Emotion’ with inspiration from attendees of Weldmar Hospicecare’s Wellbeing Support Sessions – read more about this here. We are also very honoured to have our Baby Hero sculpture, ‘Ponty’, designed and painted by renowned Bridport artist Philip Sutton RA.
