Vintage Pencil Sharpener draws attention in our Wareham shop
23rd August 2019
One of the things we love about running a chain of 26 charity shops and outlets is spotting the very unusual treasures that are donated.
Our Wareham shop recently took charge of a vintage pencil sharpener, thought to date back to the very early 1900’s.
It was manufactured by the Mabie Todd & Co in London, and has the following inscription on the brass plate:
THE AUTOMATIC PENCIL SHARPENER
MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN
SOLE SELLING AGENTS
MESSRS MABIE TODD & CO
79 & 80 HIGH HOLBORN
LONDON W. C.
PATENT No 15521 — 1907
ALSO PATENTED IN OTHER COUNTRIES
The pencil sharpener has now sold for £150.00, which will go towards the end of life care that we provide in Dorset.
If you have any items you would like to donate, whether more ‘traditional’ charity shop fare or something as unusual as this sharpener, please visit your local Weldmar Hospicecare shop or outlet.
