28th February 2025
< BACK TO NEWSThanks to the collective efforts of the team, guests, owners, and local supporters, Waterside Holiday Group have generously fundraised £17,207 for Weldmar Hospicecare. Weldmar was one of two local Dorset charities that Waterside supported as their Charity of the Year for 2024, with the other being mental health support charity, Dorset Mind.
Throughout the year, Waterside hosted numerous fundraising activities across its holiday parks in Dorset and Cornwall, bringing the community together while raising awareness and support for these causes. Some of the highlights included regular bingo evenings and a 10-Hour Cycle Relay Competition between the teams at Bowleaze Cove Holiday Park and Chesil Beach Holiday Park.
Dave Bennett, CEO at Waterside Holiday Group, said “We are delighted to have worked with Dorset Mind and Weldmar Hospicecare throughout 2024. Their work makes a real difference to individuals and families across our region, and it has been an honour to support them. We are incredibly passionate about giving back to local charities that support the areas where our team live and work, and where our guests visit. We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in our events or donated to either cause. This achievement is a testament to the caring nature and community spirit of our guests, owners, team, and supporters.”
Fiona, Fundraising Lead at Weldmar Hospice care, shared “Following a difficult time of rising running costs and increased demand for our services, everyone at Weldmar Hospicecare was delighted to hear how much Waterside Holiday Group had raised for us this year as one of their chosen charities. They absolutely smashed the target that they originally set themselves, which is just incredible. THANK YOU to all involved—you have truly made a difference, and your support means that we can continue to provide specialist end of life care for adults with a life limiting illness across Dorset, and support for their loved ones.”
Waterside looks forward to continuing its charitable initiatives in 2025, further strengthening its commitment to supporting the local community and vital causes. We thank them for their continued support of Weldmar.
