Weldmar’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Charter
At Weldmar Hospicecare, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of our organisation. We believe that every individual – whether a patient, family member, volunteer, employee, or member of our community – deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
We are committed to:
- Equality: Ensuring that everyone has equal and fair access to opportunities, care, and support.
- Diversity: Valuing and celebrating the differences that make each person unique, including backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
- Inclusion: Creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to participate fully.
Guiding Principles
- Legal Compliance: We adhere to the Equality Act 2010 and all relevant legislation, ensuring our policies and working practices provide protection against discrimination based on the nine Protected Characteristics.
- Inclusive Care and Services: We strive to provide compassionate, personalised care that respects the diverse needs of our patients and their families. We actively work to remove barriers to access and ensure our services are inclusive and equitable
- Workplace Culture: Weldmar is a Disability Confident Employer, committed to creating an accessible and inclusive workplace. We provide reasonable adjustments, promote disability awareness, and support all employees to thrive and reach their full potential.
- Recruitment and Development: Our recruitment practices are fair, transparent, and inclusive. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and ensure that our processes are accessible to all candidates.
- Education and Awareness: We provide training and resources to raise awareness of EDI issues, challenge discrimination, and promote inclusive behaviours across our teams.
- Third Parties: We will ensure Third Parties and Contractors are aware of Weldmars commitments under this charter through the Safe Working Rules for Contractors Policy.
- Internal Working Group and ED&I Committee: Weldmar Hospicecare has an established dedicated Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, supported by an internal working group made up of staff from across the organisation. This group meets regularly to review progress, share insights, and drive forward initiatives that promote a more inclusive culture. They act as champions for EDI, ensuring that the voices of staff, volunteers, and service users are heard and reflected in our policies and practices.
- Continuous Improvement: We regularly review our policies, practices, and culture to identify areas for improvement. Feedback from staff, volunteers, patients, and the community is actively sought and valued.
