Almost £48,000 raised for Weldmar Hospicecare by our 2026 London Marathon runners
30th April 2026
Over 26.2 miles, nine superstar runners, and one incredible total. Thousands took to the streets of London last Sunday to run the iconic London Marathon, and some of those extraordinary individuals took on the challenge in support of Weldmar Hospicecare.
This year Team Weldmar was made up of runners Emily, Lucy, Charlie, Anna, Tom, Sarah, Mike, Gus and Kim and between them they have raised an absolutely phenomenal £47,958.30.
“To run 26.2 miles is incredible, to run 26.2 miles and raise that amount of money is truly outstanding,” says Eden Fraser, Weldmar Fundraiser. “What a team of superstars, we’re so proud of them all! Every penny of that total stay right here in the local community, ensuring that our patients and their families receive the specialist end of life care and support that they need during life’s most difficult journeys.”
“I did it for my dad, and I know how proud he would be of us.”
Now they’ve had a few days to process their achievements, we’ve caught up with some of our Team Weldmar runners to get their thoughts about the day.
Sarah
“That was one of the most incredible experiences of my life!!!” Said Sarah. “It was amazing, from the loudest cheering I’ve ever heard, to hearing my name called as I ran past, everyone rooting for you, seeing London through a different lens, to the primal excitement waiting to start and the funny conversations had along the way to the hardest few miles at the end, and still keeping on going – and the finish line! Wow, can’t really put that into words!!! Jut mind blowing!!! Loved it all, thanks so much for the opportunity!”
Charlie
“Running the London Marathon for Weldmar was truly an amazing experience for me! All those weeks of training and sacrifice come together for an incredible day of support and celebration. No matter how the day went, there were thousands of people cheering your name and it truly brings to life how amazing people can be. Weldmar is a charity very close to my heart, and it was my privilege to run for them and fundraise for an incredible cause. Here’s to many more events raising awareness and funds for this incredible charity!”
