5 Minutes with… Clare Ash, Weldmar Fundraiser
Meet Clare, part of our amazing Fundraising Team. You can often find Clare preparing for Weldmar events and challenges, encouraging people with their own fundraising, and meeting the incredible supporters in the community who have been busy holding events of their own. We had a quick chat with Clare to find out more about her and the work she does…
What does your job at Weldmar involve?
Looking after both our new and long-standing supporters who kindly organise events or take part in challenges, raising valuable funds for Weldmar Hospicecare. It is really important to ensure our incredible volunteers, supporters, and the wider community feel valued and appreciated. We really couldn’t offer what we do without them. My role also includes helping to organise our own annual events, such as our Summer Fete, Light up a Life, Jurassic Coast Challenge, and Music by the Lake.
What do you like best about your job?
I love the variety my job offers; I have to be adaptable and creative. I have been particularly fortunate to have met the most incredible people, and each day I learn something new.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I am a keen trekker, and have completed five Weldmar Overseas Challenges, as a supporter of the charity rather than part of my role. I have a very lively Golden Doodle named Bono who loves to take me for a walk (which really helps my training!), which often ends with a flat white coffee. I love a silent disco and spending time with my family and friends.
What’s your favourite thing about Dorset?
You are never too far from stunning landscapes, beautiful coast lines and new discoveries.
Give us three words that best describe you.
Enthusiastic, caring and adaptable!
Complete this sentence: I like working at Weldmar because…
I feel incredibly privileged to be part of a dedicated team who all wish to ensure the very best care, guidance and support is offered to those experiencing life’s most difficult journey. My Dad was given exceptional end of life care and I will always be thankful.
