What can I expect from a Forest Bathing Session?
Forest Bathing offers an opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in the natural environment, and engage with all of your senses. During the session, you will be guided through a series of gentle invitations and prompts, with opportunities to sit, stand, walk, and simply notice the world around you.
As artist Andy Goldsworthy beautifully expressed:
“We often forget that we are nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.”
Sessions typically last between 1½ and 2 hours and conclude with a shared tea ceremony, providing an opportunity to reflect on your experience. There is never any expectation to share your thoughts or feelings unless you wish to do so.
Forest Bathing is not group therapy. These sessions are particularly suited to those who would like to process their grief in a non-verbal way, reconnect with the natural world, and leave feeling calmer and more relaxed.
Research suggests that spending time outdoors can:
- Reduce cortisol levels and feelings of stress and anxiety
- Lower blood pressure
- Improve sleep quality
- Support the immune system
- Enhance creativity and wellbeing
