Meet the fundraiser – Annette Hart
6th September 2024
From clowning around to crafty creations, Annette has been an incredible supporter and fundraiser over the last 30 years for Weldmar Hospicecare. We asked her to share with us why she supports Weldmar.
Over 30 years ago we heard about the plans for a local Hospice. We thought how amazing to have such a facility in the County and wanted to help in any way we could. We were already fundraisers for the League of Friends of Weymouth and Portland hospitals so we changed course to Weldmar.
Fundraising activities have included busking (with street organs), clowning (as members of Clowns International), sponsored events organised by Weldmar :- Colour Run, Bubble Rush, Jurassic Coast Path walk, Fire walk, and my own Church Open Challenge for my 81st Birthday. My family have helped in all of these events but success was only achieved because of all the wonderful supporters who continually donate to the cause.
Crafting and Baking has been the main fundraiser throughout and continues to be so. Fundraising for Weldmar is wonderful because you know every penny goes into a much needed service. We are so lucky in Dorset to have such a facility. I was able to take part in the Making Every Moment Matter campaign and privileged to be with the team when they reached, and exceeded the 250k target. A wonderful moment.
Any fundraising is a team effort there is no “I” in team. I am very lucky to have a lot of wonderful supporters. Since my own Cancer diagnosis fundraising has given me a renewed purpose . All of the Hospice staff are AMAZING! Thank you!
