Thank you for Treecycling! Our initiative raises more than £10k for Weldmar
10th January 2022
< BACK TO NEWSThank you to everyone in Dorset who booked a collection for their real Christmas tree as part of Weldmar Hospicecare’s Treecycle initiative.
More than 900 trees were collected from residential and business addresses across Dorset by volunteers, braving the wet and windy January weather, raising more than £10,000 for the charity.
The Treecycle was supported for the second successive year by Trinity Street Christmas Trees, who co-ordinated most of the collections across the weekend, recruited volunteers, and organised the recycling of the trees, all at no cost to Weldmar.
We would also like to show our appreciation to:
- All of the volunteers, including those from Magna Housing and Pipefix Ltd, who helped with collections
- Knighton Countryside Management, for chipping all the trees
- Dorset Vehicle Hire for providing the vans and trucks used for collections
The Christmas tree chippings will be used to make biomass fuel, and to create mulch to help grow a new generation of Dorset grown trees!

Thank you for Treecycling! Every tree collected means that Weldmar Hospicecare can continue to provide specialist care for adults in Dorset living with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.
