Weldmar Hospicecare launches Treecycle 2026: Recycle your Christmas tree to support local end of life care
26th November 2025
Weldmar Hospicecare has announced the return of its annual Treecycle initiative, encouraging Dorset residents to recycle their real Christmas trees for a suggested £10 donation to support their specialist end of life care.
Since the first Treecycle in 2017 the campaign has raised an impressive £82,000 towards the essential care Weldmar provides for local adults with a life-limiting illness, and their loved ones.
In partnership with Trinity St. Christmas Trees, collections will take place from Saturday 10th to Monday 12th January 2026 across ten areas: Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland, Bridport, Blandford, Beaminster, Sturminster Newton, Sherborne, Shaftesbury, and Gillingham.
Fiona Hansford, Fundraising Lead at Weldmar Hospicecare, said:
“Our Christmas tree recycling campaign is a double win! For a suggested donation of just £10, you get the convenience of having your tree collected from your door, and you ensure we can continue providing the best possible care for local families experiencing a life limiting illness this Christmas and into the new year.”
Isla Hyde from Trinity St. Christmas Trees – pictured above with Lorraine from Weldmar’s Specialist Hospice at Home Service – adds:
“We’re proud to be supporting Weldmar once again, as it is such a wonderful charity that provides support to so many people locally. We’ll be ready to get out on the road in January with a small army of volunteers, clocking up lots of miles across Dorset to help collect thousands of trees in one very busy, but rewarding weekend.”
Once collected, the trees are chipped and recycled into biomass fuel by the team at Knighton Countryside Management, who generously donate their time and expertise to support Weldmar.
Book your Christmas tree collection here, where you can also express an interest in volunteering to help pick up trees during the collection weekend.
