Weldmar shop in the heart of Portland community reopens with a brand new look!
25th October 2024
< BACK TO NEWSThe Weldmar Hospicecare charity shop in Easton Street on Portland has reopened with a fantastic new look, offering an improved sustainable shopping experience. The shop is not only brighter and more spacious, but also includes information about the specialist end-of-life care that Weldmar provides to adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, so shoppers know exactly where the money they help raise is going. Staff and volunteers were joined by Weldmar Community Nurse Paula Hartley who kindly attended the opening to cut the ribbon.
Pat has been volunteering at the shop for 8 years, she said “It’s absolutely brilliant. I love the sign outside and the fact that people can look through the window and see the whole shop. It is so much brighter and lighter. I think we are going to be very very busy!”
Local resident and shopper Steph was also impressed with the new look, she said “It looks absolutely amazing. It is just so much more open, it’s easier to shop in here, and it’s given it a more modern look.”
The shop first opened in July 2013 and the staff and volunteers have been regularly involved with the local community holding their own fundraising events for Weldmar Hospicecare.
Shop manager Michelle Trafford is delighted with the transformation, she said “I think the shop looks incredible, it has given the space a much-needed boost and will give customers an improved shopping experience. We are lucky to have our fabulous regular supporters, who will hopefully all love the new look as much as we do, but we also look forward to welcoming new shoppers through the door.”
The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm and Sundays 10am-4pm. Donations of quality, pre-loved items are welcome, please contact the shop in advance to check if they have space.
