Volunteer Driver (using own vehicle)

✅ Giving a few hours of your time can make a real difference

As a Volunteer Driver using own vehicle, you will be asked to provide transport for those patients, carers or family members unable to arrange for their own transportation to attend Weldmar services. We are looking for local drivers to cover the main towns and surrounding areas: North Dorset – Blandford, Sherborne and Shaftesbury Central Dorset – Dorchester and Bridport South Dorset – Weymouth and Portland. This could be a weekly commitment on a given day, or ad hoc helping in the community as specified in the task allocated to you. This role is subject to relevant clearance checks.

  • Areas of Volunteering

  • Retail

    Minimum age is 14 yrs in four nominated sites, or 17 yrs at all other retail sites. Working as part of a team to maximise sales, helping with any of the following: - Customer service - Taking cash and till operation - Topping up rails and fixtures - Arranging displays - Unpacking donated items - Steaming and general cleaning.

  • Fundraising

    Working alongside our Fundraising Team helping with: - Annual Summer Fete - Blue pod collection - Weldmar Ambassador - Light Up A Life campaign - Christmas treecycle - Friends Groups

  • Patient Centred

    Minimum age is 18 yrs, or 16 yrs in supervised areas. Community: Providing social practical support such as transport, shopping, dog walking, befriending. Wellbeing Support Sessions: Offering complementary therapy, arts and crafts, refreshments, bereavement support, spiritual care, transport. Inpatient Unit: Helping at mealtimes, transport, Pets As Therapy, bereavement counselling, carers support, reception, complementary therapy, flower arranging.

  • Other Support

    Helping with a variety of duties such as: Maintenance and Gardening in the Inpatient Unit grounds - Office Administration supporting our teams in Finance, Fundraising, People Services at the Inpatient Unit.

  • We may require references depending on your role and would be grateful if you could provide details of a recent employer, or another voluntary organisation, or a person who knows you well. In some cases we may write to your GP for a medical reference

  • Our Policy
