Wildlife and wellbeing for families in Weldmar’s care
1st September 2025
When you think of hospice care, you’re likely to picture a nurse providing comfort and support to a patient. Whilst that is, of course, a core part of what Weldmar provides, there is so much more available for both patients and their loved ones, who are experiencing one of life’s most difficult journeys.
Throughout the summer holidays, families in Weldmar’s care have been taking part in activities to enhance their wellbeing, and to meet others in similar situations.
The families – most of whom are experiencing bereavement – have been visiting The Ranch in Weymouth, and Dorset Falconry Centre, to engage with their animals and birds, and have a go at things like archery.
We tagged along during the final session to find out more about the benefits that it brought to those taking part:
Our thanks to the team at The Ranch for working with us to facilitate these amazing experiences, and to the families who attended for allowing us to share the experience with you.
