Work Life Week: How Weldmar provides flexibility to its team members
11th October 2022
Weldmar wouldn’t be able to offer the specialist end of life care to patients and support to their families without the incredible hardworking individuals who are all important parts of the Weldmar team. This includes clinical staff in the community and at our Inpatient Unit. Specifically, therapists, counsellors and social workers, catering, housekeeping and maintenance, staff within our retail operation which comprises shops and outlets across Dorset. Furthermore, support functions such as fundraising, finance, administration, and marketing. Here, we depict how Weldmar provides flexibility to its team members
This year’s theme for Work Life Week is Flexible Working. Here at Weldmar, we realise how important home life is and that by offering a number of ways for our employees across the organisation to work flexibly, where appropriate, this lets staff thrive both at work and at home. So, let’s discuss how our team balances their professional and personal lives.
How Weldmar provides flexibility to its team members:
Bridget’s Story
Bridget Stafford is one of the Health Care Assistants in the Weldmar at Home Team. She is grateful to Weldmar and especially the Weldmar at Home Team Leader, Mary Brice, with tailoring her shift pattern to give her the time to take care of her mum and look after her grandchildren.
Georgia’s Story
Georgia Donaldson is the Digital Media Officer in the Marketing and Communications Team here at Weldmar. She was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2016, this can often leave her with chronic fatigue and in chronic pain. Subsequently, Georgia has found having the flexibility to adjust her working week, including home working, she has been able to carry on doing the job she loves and even increase her hours!
We offer flexible working options. These include part-time hours, job share, flexible working, shift working and reduced hours. We also offer working from home, overtime and time off in lieu (TOIL). However, these are dependant on the role and are considered on a case by case basis.
