National Work Life Week: Life in and out of Weldmar for colleagues across the charity

15th October 2021

Weldmar Hospicecare

This week, we’ve been finding out more about our colleagues and friends during National Work Life Week.

If you missed our posts on the social media throughout the week, you can catch up here.

Michelle Trafford

I’m Michelle and I am in charge of the Weldmar Charity shop on Portland. Sorting and selling all of the lovely donations and raising money for Weldmar with the help of my fantastic team of volunteers.

Outside of work, I’m a bandswoman and play the Flugelhorn in Weymouth Concert Brass. You will probably see me out and about at local fetes and charity events and even playing your favourite Christmas Carols in the supermarkets during the festive season.

Fee Jeanes

I’m Fee and I work at the Inpatient Unit as a Health Care Assistant. I care for patients at the end of their life with compassion and dedication. I love being part of such an amazing team.

Outside of work, I run a Ballet School in Bridport. I’m very lucky to now have a well-established school.

I’ve danced all of my life, taking Ballet lessons from the age of 3. By the age of 11 I danced in Tap, Modern, Ballroom, Latin American, and Modern Sequence. I’ve taken many exams and entered south west area competitions until I had my first son in 1993.

Between juggling my nursing career from 1989 and being a single Mum to my three children, Ballet became a huge part of my life.

Two years ago I wrote, choreographed, and produced the Ballet Cinderella at the Electric Palace in Bridport with a cast of 104 – something I am immensely proud of.

Dean Daniels

I’m Dean, and I’m Weldmar’s Director of Finance. I am responsible for the finance function across the organisation, and sit on the board of directors.

Outside of work, I am a Dad and a soon-to-be husband. I also umpire cricket matches. For the last nine years, I’ve umpired cricket to the highest level you can – without being professional, before that, I umpired for my local club for twenty years.

Georgia Donaldson

I’m Georgia, and I’ve been Weldmar’s Digital Media Officer since 2018. You’ll typically spot me at work with a camera – I could be filming training material, photographing events or capturing a special moment for patients and their families – no two days are ever the same! As part of the Marketing Team I also help look after our staff intranet, website and social media.

As for what I do outside of work, it’s a little unusual. Have you ever seen photos from Comic Cons and spotted people dressed up as their favourite characters? That’s called cosplay, and it’s what I love doing! It doesn’t matter if your costume is store bought, cobbled together or made completely from scratch, it’s all about having fun as your favourite characters and meeting others who love the same things you do! I’ve always loved acting, singing and dancing on stage and cosplay has felt like another outlet for that. In the 5 years I’ve been cosplaying I’ve met so many wonderful people, and have made the most amazing friends and memories.
