Nikki’s Apprenticeship Journey “I found doing this Apprenticeship boosted my confidence and I’m ready for the next challenge.”
9th February 2023
Nikki is a member of our Hotel Services team, and works at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester helping to ensure that is kept to the highest possible standards of cleanliness. Nikki recently completed a Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship through Weymouth College. “I really enjoyed studying for the Apprenticeship, learning all about the different sectors in Hospitality and how I could implement it in my role at the hospice and enhance my knowledge as a Housekeeper.”
Nikki also needed to complete her English and maths Functional Skills alongside her other work, but Nikki felt supported whilst completing her Apprenticeship, especially by her line manager Mish. “Mish was very supportive throughout my Apprenticeship. She would organise and adjust the rota so I could attend college and have plenty of study time during my working week.”
For the final part of her apprenticeship she had to complete a Business project proposal and a presentation. Mish, Nikki’s line manager, was extremely impressed with Nikki’s hard work “I’m very proud of Nikki, she worked really hard throughout her Apprenticeship right from the word go. This was proven when she received not just a pass but a Distinction!” Nikki’s idea to purchase a compact scrubber dryer to assist with cleaning, scrubbing and drying all the hard floors at the hospice impressed Mish so much that she has put the idea forward to see if it can be actioned this year.
Nikki is glad that she took the opportunity provided by Weldmar to upskill “I found doing this Apprenticeship boosted my confidence and I’m ready for the next challenge.
