Meet the Fundraiser – Zoë Legge

Zoë has been a keen fundraiser and supporter of Weldmar Hospicecare for a number of years, and along with hosting her own events and fundraisers she has also helped out and volunteered at several Weldmar events, including our Summer Fete and Christmas Tree collections.

Zoë believes that there is much more value in giving people something for their donation, whether that is holding a bake sale, quiz nights, tombolas in local supermarkets or hosting a bingo night. One of her specialties has been running themed nights including both a seventies night and an eighties night, and has a Western themed disco night planned for the future. She said: “We always try to make it fun, there is always a point where we talk about why we are there and what the money is for and I’m sure it helps people dig a little deeper.”

Zoë has also been on overseas challenges for Weldmar, taking on both Madagascar in 2024 and the Sahara before that. “You are doing something for an amazing cause but you are also getting something out of it, and such a big personal challenge. It is something
where I can get something out of it and along the way contribute to a charity that is so good and worthy,” said Zoë.

When Zoë was fundraising for the Sahara trek, along with fellow trekkers, she reached out to a local pub who helped with providing a venue and additional support for their events. Zoë really values help and support from others, “I always think that I am extremely lucky because I have a good support network around me, my husband, my family and all my friends jump on board to get involved and help.”

Zoë is extremely grateful for everything that Weldmar have provided for her family and friends, “I don’t feel like there is ever enough I could do, both with raising awareness and fundraising, to be able to give back for the care and support my family received from
Weldmar. You never hear a bad story about it, everyone has a positive experience”
